Talented & Gifted Program (TAG)

The Talented and Gifted Program (TAG) at Tripoli Community Schools is a K-12 program created to address the specific needs of the gifted learner.

In the lower elementary, the students are exposed to activities that challenge them to use problem-solving skills, use higher-level thinking, and express their creative talents.

In third grade, the students are identified for the program based on a combination of test scores, academic achievement, creativity test results, teacher recommendations, parent recommendations, and peer recommendations.

In the upper elementary, these identified students participate in small groups that are exposed to activities that are extensions of what they are doing in the regular classroom.

In middle and high school, the students are allowed the freedom to select areas of interest to study.  They are also exposed to other areas, such as problem solving, journaling, and debating.

The goal of the K-12 program is to challenge the gifted learner through more challenging and differentiated curriculum.  We recognize that gifted learners have unique intellectual, emotional, and social needs.  The program strives to address these needs so that these learners are able to flourish in our school district.
